The founder of Expedition Science, Jamie felt driven to start the company having become frustrated by the lack of private and corporate investment going into climate science. As a Special Advisor on the environment to the UK Parliament and having worked responding to environmental disasters he could see the disconnect between both sides.
Having led multiple polar, mountaineering and ocean expeditions over the past 20years Jamie was always surprised at the disconnect between what Researchers are doing out in the field and the stories they tell. If they weren’t conducting research and filming their stories you would simply call their field work an expedition.
A passionate advocate for the environment, Jamie wanted to setup a company that actually did something. Funding our better understanding of the planet and getting world class researchers to where they need to get to.Telling their stories in a way that gets people and policy makers to understand and engage with their science and the environments they spend their lives studying.
A former Royal Marine and Trustee & Director of the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust, Jamies passion for the environment comes from a lifetime of being in the mountains or in/on the water.
